For example, the vitamin B6 is in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P); the active form which your body can use. If you choose a supplement where the vitamin B6 is in the form of pyridoxine (which is a much cheaper form), your body has to convert it into P-5-P in order to get the benefit. If you are run down, tired or stressed then your body may not be able to make this conversion from pyridoxine to P-5-P which means you do not get the benefit of this important vitamin.
